Recently, Shanghai Hualing Artificial Ear Medical Technology Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Qixia District signed an investment agreement, marking the "Hualing Artificial Ear Technology East China Headquarters and Industrialization Base" officially settled in Nanjing Qixia. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of 500 million yuan, will have an annual production capacity of 10,000 sets of cochlear implants and 20,000 sets of sound processors, intelligent manufacturing centers, testing centers and display training centers.It is expected to be completed and put into production in the first half of 2027, and the output value will exceed 500 million yuan in 2030.
As a medical technology company with the core capability of Neural Interface/Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology, Hualing Artificial Ear focuses on the typical clinical neuroengineering scenario of "Artificial Hearing": through the implantable electrode arrays to form a stable coupling with the neural tissues of the auditory pathway, to complete the closed-loop link from the acoustic information to the encoding of the neural stimulus. This direction belongs to the key common technology system of Neural Interface (Neural Interface) and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) in industrial classification, and its key technologies are highly homologous to the systematic requirements of electrodes, chips and algorithms in the field of BCI, especially in the manufacturing of implantable electrodes, low-power signal/stimulation chips, neural coding and speech algorithms, as well as the reliability and consistency validation of the clinical level. reliability and consistency verification.
Relying on the independently developed domestic cochlear implant product system, Hualing Artificial Ear has realized independent control in the core link:The core chip, electrode array and speech algorithm realize 100% localization, breaking the long-term monopoly pattern of foreign countries; the price of a single set of imported products fell by more than 30%.It helps to further enhance the accessibility and inclusion of cochlear implants.

The establishment of the headquarters in Qixia will rely on Nanjing's concentration of universities, hospitals and clinical translation resources.Establishment of "Artificial Hearing Collaborative Innovation Center".(math.) genusThe project plans to incubate no less than 3 next-generation cochlear implant products and 10 derivatives of assistive devices in the next 5 years, so as to more systematically serve the needs of the hearing-impaired population in the Jiangsu region, and build up a comprehensive service capability covering screening, implantation, debugging, and rehabilitation training for more than 100,000 hearing-impaired patients. Meanwhile, based on the accumulation of existing chips, electrodes and manufacturing platforms, the project will, under the premise of ensuring safety compliance, moderately carry out the manufacturing verification and engineering exploration of key components and processes of the brain-computer interface, so as to make a good reserve for the research and development and landing of potential brain-computer interface products.
The project is expected to create 120 new jobs, of which R&D and high-end manufacturing jobs account for more than 60%. At the same time, Hualing Artificial Ear will jointly set up an "Auditory Rehabilitation Public Welfare Fund" with Jiangsu Disabled Persons' Federation and Nanjing Medical University to provide cochlear implant support and post-operative rehabilitation services to hearing-impaired children between the ages of 0-14 years old in the province. The fund will provide cochlear implant support and post-operative rehabilitation services for hearing impaired children aged 0-14 in the province, and promote the extension of high-quality auditory rehabilitation resources to the grassroots.
Jiangsu Brain-Computer Interface Research Institute (JBCIRI) was officially established in September 2025 in Qixia District, Nanjing, as a high-level scientific research institution jointly built by Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, the People's Government of Qixia District and the Administrative Committee of Xianlin University Town. At the same time, under the special policies of Qixia District, 60,000 square meters of innovation industrial park and 5 billion yuan of industrial development mother fund, the Institute is committed to promoting the industrialization of cutting-edge achievements from the laboratory, and is dedicated to building a brain-computer interface innovation highland with international influence.
According to the disciplinary layout and key deployment of the institute, it is proposed to build four common open platforms, accompanied by an innovative service platform, including: common open platform, clinical research platform, data and computing platform, testing and inspection platform, and innovative service platform.
